Using MS Access Queries with TyTags DIY
TyTags DIY v2 does not detect Microsoft Access ‘Queries’ by itself. This is in part due to how the Microsoft Office products work together. Luckily, there is a an easy way to solve this by calling upon Microsoft Excel.
Step 1: Build you query
To start, use MS Access to open your database and build a query table. Like all tables, this table MUST include a unique field of some sort. When you are done, close MS Access.
Step 2: Create an Excel Spreadsheet from your query
Start Microsoft Excel then select
open
from the file menu, filter the files to look only for MS Access and select the MS Access database that holds your queries.
Excel will prompt you to select the table or query from where to obtain the data. Select the query you just made and Excel will fill in the spreadsheet with the live data from your database.
Select Save from the file menu and type in a name for your new spreadsheet. Once done, close Excel.
Step 3: Open the query via Excel file in TyTags DIY.
Start TyTags DIY v2 and select Datalink – Other from the File menu. Locate you’re the Excel file you made in start 2 and select it. The first table in the data link setup screen will be your query. Select it, then select the unique key, search fields and display fields as normal.
That’s it, you are now have an MS Access query connected to DIY through Microsoft Excel.
