Using DIY sheets with the Oki C8600 printer
The Oki C8600 is a wide-paper (A3) sized printer that does an excellent job of printing all DIY sheets.
When using the C8600, you need to remember that by default, the printer expects all paper to be feed long-edge first - that is, with the longest edge of an A4-page facing towards the printer. While this mode speeds up printing and gives great print quality, it does mean that you need to change how you feed DIY sheets into it.
Hang Tags
: You feed all DIY Hang Tags (DIY-H04, DIY-H06, DIY-H08, DIY-H09, DIY-12) with their long edge facing towards the printer. The default printer settings should be correct for printing. To improve color saturation, you may wish to set the printer’s paper weight to
Heavy
or
Ultra-heavy
.
Self-Adhesive Labels:
You feed all DIY self-adhesive labels with their long edge facing the printer. The default printer settings should be correct for printing.
Stick-in Pot Tags:
These are a little more tricky. Because of the super-tough nature of the materials used in DIY pot tags and the amount of perforations, all DIY pot tags must be fed into the Oki C8600 with their short edge facing the printer, in exactly the same way as you’d feed them into the standard A4-sized C5700 printer. Because these sheets must be fed short-edge first, you will need to deselect the default ‘long edge first’ function of the printer.
To do this, click on the
Printer Options
button on the Print Tool Panel. Make sure that you have the Oki C8600 printer selected and press the
Properties
button, which will bring up the printer properties window. Next, click on the
Paper Feed Options
button and deselect the “Long Edge First” checkbox. That will now set your printer so that it feed the DIY pot tags with their short edge first. Finally, click on OK to confirm your printer settings are return to the Print Tool Panel… you are now ready to print!
