There are many reasons why DIY will not print, most of them due to how Windows manages printers. If DIY is not printing, review the following:
· Check that the printer is ONLINE. This can be done by looking for the word “Online” on the printer’s front control panel. Please see your Oki printer manual for details. · Check that your Oki printer has been selected prior to printing – you can review this by looking at the settings in the Print Manager Panel. If you do not set the Oki printer to the default on your system, then you will need to use the Printer Options button on the Print Manager Panel to select the Oki. · If the printer is connected by a USB cable: a. Check the USB cable is securely in place in both the printer AND the PC. Cables can easily be knocked out of place. b. Check that Windows has not created a ‘copy’ of the Oki printer by reviewing all the installed printers via the Windows Control Panel. Microsoft Windows (both XP and Vista) may automatically make a duplicate ‘copy’ of a printer if it is unplugged and re-plugged while the computer is running. This ‘copy’ printer functions normally, but you need to make sure that you select it in the Print Manager Panel. You will also need to check the printer settings of this new ‘copy’ and ensure they are the same as those recommended in the TyTags DIY v2 Installation Guide. c. Check that you have not connected a network cable to the printer in addition to the USB cable. If an Oki printer is connected to a network, it will no longer activate the USB cable connection. · If the printer is connected by a network cable: a. Check that the network cable is secure in both the network hub/switch and the printer. If the cable is secure and is transmitting data, there will be a green light showing near the cable connector on the printer, and most likely a light on the hub/switch showing the same. b. Sometimes network cables become damaged – try using a different cable. c. Check the printer’s IP settings are within the IP range of the network. Please consult the Oki manual for details on setting a printer up on a network. If after reading the printer manual and checking your Windows settings you still cannot get your Oki printer to work, please call the Oki helpline as listed in your TyTags DIY user guide.
