What is Joe's Banner Exchange?

Good question!  This banner exchange is a free and open banner exchange network for the horticultural industry. If you are a grower, retailer of allied trader, we encourage you to join up. When you upload your banner ads to the network, they will be displayed on other exchange member's web sites. Who's ad is displayed where and when is ballanced over the banner exhchage network, meaning that everyone gets a fair go.

The benefits of this exchange is two-fold. First of all, you get FREE advertising into a very niche business market. You can be sure that your ads are shown to people that are actively looking for horticultural infromation and plants. Second, by linking to each other, we increase our search rankings over time.

Great! How do I Join?

It's very easy really. Just follow these steps...

  1. If you do not already have a TyTags web site account , please visit www.tytags.com and REGISTER a new account.  (Tytag's in donating their server space and bandwidth for this free exchange, so a big thanks to them!).
  2. Now send an email to joe@tytags.com to let him know you wish to be added to the Banner Exchange. Make sure you include your TyTags user name in this email!
  3. After a while, Joe will sign you up and you will receive an email telling you that you are now an Advertiser.  Once you have that email, you are ready to start uploading and sharing your advertising banners with the rest of the Banner Exchange.

Some Rules

To keep things fair, we have a few rules for Joe's Banner Exchange.

Rule 1: Ad sizes

We current support three sizes of banner ads:

Regular-sized banners and are 468x60 pixles.

Large 'Leader" banners which are 728 x 90 pixles.

Rectangular "Business Card" banners which are 180x150 pixles.

You will need to ensure that your banners fit one of these three sizes.

Rule 2: Banner formats

We currently support image files (jpg, png, gifs) as well as text-only ads and Adobe Flash ads.

Rule 3: You must place banner ads on your web site

The way the banner ad network functions is that for every ad you show on your web site, you get an and on someone else's site. This means that you must include banner ads on your web site by adding some simple web code onto your own web site. There are three different types of code you can add, depending up the size of the banner you wish to place on your web site.  Members of the exchange who do not place banner ads somewhere on their own site will eventually be removed from the network... sorry, but this is all about helping each other. If you need help adding code to your web site, put in a request via the service desk on the TyTags web site and we'll do everything we can to help you out.

Rule 4: Keep on topic!

Joe's Banner Ad Exchange is only for the nursery industry.  We accept ads about nuseries, growers, plants from plant breeders, horticultural products, trade associations, etc. We even accept banners that announce upcomming events.  Just as long as the ad has something to do with the horticultural industry. Banner ads that do not fit this requirement will not be approved.
